The Journey to Find Family

Coming up on the Men at the Movies podcast, we wrestle with Peanut Butter Falcon. Zack and Tyler were two men looking for family, and they find the deepest possibility of God’s affection and family in their times of deepest pain. They wonder if they are good guys or bad guys, and discover that being a hero has to do with waking up and making a choice. Join us as we discover God’s truth in this movie.

The Quotes

  • You see the deepest possibility of God’s affection and family in the times of deepest pain.

  • We have no idea what will happen if we have the courage to put down our nets and follow Jesus.

  • The question isn’t if we are going to die. The question is when, and what stories will we tell along the way.

  • Being a hero has to do with choosing to wake up and live with a good guy heart.

 Themes

  • Three people searching for family, need each other to find it

    • Zack: good heart, innocent. Wants to be a bad ass, but kept locked up for safety. Thinks he can’t be a good guy.

    • Tyler: responsible for his brother’s death. Selfish. Kept waking up and found himself pursued by God. Unable to hold on to his family’s legacy. Undergoes a baptism in his rescue of Zack.

    • Eleanor: Places a priority on safety because of the loss she’s had. Needs to be invited into a greater adventure to get her heart back.
